J-LEAD (Jewish Leadership Education Action and Development)

J-LEAD (Jewish Leadership, Education, Action and Development) is a program dedicated to encouraging young Jewish adults in Kansas City to join together to make a substantive impact on the Jewish community though fundraising, education and volunteering. J-LEAD helps young Jewish adults in Kansas City better understand the Jewish charitable field, encourage the establishment of roots in the community and further develop their leadership skills. The goal of J-LEAD is to provide a means of combining the spirit and resources of its members to achieve a greater good than any one member could do alone. J-LEAD receives funding from its general membership as well as matching funds from the Jewish Community Foundation and anonymous donors.

Who is Eligible to apply for a grant?

The following types of charitable organizations are eligible for grants:

	Any organization providing a service and/or program which is Jewish in nature
	Any organization whose purpose is to serve the Jewish community in Kansas City
	Any university whose purpose is to serve the Jewish community in the greater Kansas City area

Who is Not Eligible?
The following types of charitable organizations are not eligible for grants:

	An individual Jewish congregation
	A Jewish organization with a closely-related political action committee

Grant Application Procedure

We recommend that grant requests made to J-LEAD be under $5,000. Application materials should be submitted to Beatrice Fine . Should there be any questions regarding your proposal, a member of the J-LEAD Grants Committee may contact you via phone or letter requesting further information or an appointment or a site visit. The Grants Committee will review the applications and determine finalists. Finalists will be invited to present a brief overview of their grant applications at a meeting of J-LEAD membership and answer questions.

The recipient of any grant from J-LEAD must use the funds awarded for the specific purpose(s) as outlined in the original grant proposal. J-LEAD requires a semi-annual report detailing expenditures to date, planned expenditures and interim results of the program. Additionally,
J-LEAD may ask for one to two site visits during the year.

Please note that organizations receiving funding must complete a final grant evaluation 90 days after completion of the funded program. If you are applying for repeat funding, a year-to-date progress report must be submitted with your application.
