J-LEAD
J-LEAD (Jewish Leadership, Education, Action and Development) is a program
dedicated to encouraging young Jewish adults in Kansas City to join together
to make a substantive impact on the Jewish community though fundraising,
education and volunteering. J-LEAD helps young Jewish adults in Kansas
City better understand the Jewish charitable field, encourage the establishment
of roots in the community and further develop their leadership skills.
The goal of J-LEAD is to provide a means of combining the spirit and resources
of its members to achieve a greater good than any one member could do
alone.
J-LEAD receives funding from it's general membership (a three-year commitment
of $500 per year) as well as matching funds from the Jewish Community
Foundation and anonymous donors.
The group meets several times per year for educational and social programs
with the goals of:
Learning
more about philanthropy as a vehicle for community involvement
Connecting
substantively with the variety of agencies and programs within the Jewish
community
Leveraging
the impact of their charitable contributions
Participating
in a social network of people with similar values and an interest in
giving back
to
the Jewish community
J-LEAD has awarded more than $35,000 to Jewish community
programs this year.
