Beyond the party. Beyond the gifts. The Jewish Community Foundation can help make your teen’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah the lifechanging, meaningful experience that you hope it to be. We can work together to make this important rite of passage an introduction to life as an invested member of the Jewish community.
The B’nai Tzedek program encourages teens to become involved in tzedakah by establishing a fund for Jewish charitable giving. Opening a B’nai Tzedek fund gives teens a chance to play a part in improving the Jewish community and the world. Since the program's inception in 2001, more than $250,000 has been donated to community organizations by B'nai Tzedek fundholders.
It's easy to make a difference.
1. Contribute a minimum of $125 and the Jewish Community Foundation will add $375 to your gift to establish a personal B’nai Tzedek fund.
2. Learn about the needs of our Jewish community, locally and in Israel. The Foundation hosts an annual B’nai Tzedek Shuk where participants can meet representatives from community organizations and learn how to make an impact.
3. Once a year, 10% of the fund may be granted to any Jewish charity in Kansas City, Israel, or to another Jewish community of residence during or after college.
Join the growing group of Jewish youth in Kansas City by getting involved. Sign up and let’s start giving!
“The best part about the B’nai Tzedek Shuk [JCF’s annual youth philanthropy fair] was that I learned that even though I am just a Midwestern Jewish teen, I can still make a difference in the world.”
