Grants

The following Jewish Community Foundation funds provide grants to organizations. All organizations interested in applying for grants should contact Beatrice Fine at (913) 327-4618 prior to applying. With the exception of the Frank Friedberg Fund, all applications are restricted to the Greater Kansas City area. The Swinken Supporting Foundation will grant outside of Kansas City by invitation only.

If an application deadline falls on a weekend, the application is due the following business day.

Grant applications will be live one month prior to the deadline.

  • Community Legacy Fund

    The Community Legacy Fund awards grants to programs and agencies which enhance and maintain the quality of Jewish life in the Greater Kansas City area. Grants are available for Core support and Innovative/Emergency programs. Innovative/Emergency grant applications are due April 1. Core grant applications are due June 15.

  • Frank Friedberg Fund

    More than 40 years ago, Kansas City community member, Frank Friedberg bequeathed a portion of his estate to provide aid to men, women and their families who have been disabled in the military conflicts in Israel. $13,000 is available to be granted to an organization that provides aid. Applications are due June 15 and are by invitation only.

  • Flo Harris Foundation

    The Flo Harris Foundation is dedicated to continuing the generosity for charitable causes exhibited by Flo Harris during her lifetime. General community grants which benefit children and safety-net programs are accepted. Applications are due May 15.

  • J-LEAD

    J-LEAD (Jewish Leadership Education Action & Development) is a giving circle for donors in their 20s, 30s and 40s. J-LEAD awards grants of $5,000 or less to each recipient. Applications must be for programs which have a positive impact on the Jewish community. Grant applications are due March 1.

  • Jewish Art Fund

    The Jewish Art Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation accepts grant applications for programs which promote Jewish art and art education for any age group. Grants are limited to the Kansas City area and the maximum amount which can be requested in an application is $2,500. Grant applications are due February 28.

  • Katianne’s Sunshine Fund for the Benefit of Special Needs Programming

    Katianne’s Sunshine Fund for the Benefit of Special Needs Programming is a memorial fund established by the family of Katianne Bordy Tannewald to continue Katianne’s legacy of brightening the world. The fund provides support to nonprofit organizations serving the local Jewish special needs community. Applications are due June 15.

  • Menorah Women’s Foundation

    The Menorah Women’s Foundation is dedicated to providing philanthropic support to enhance the emotional and physical well being of the Jewish community. General community grant applications are not accepted. Applications must be for programs which have a positive impact on the Jewish community. Grant applications are due June 15.

  • Louis and Frances Swinken Supporting Foundation

    The Louis and Frances Swinken Supporting Foundation honors the Swinkens’ love of music and the performing arts. Applications are due May 15.

  • Earl J. and Leona K. Tranin Special Fund

    The advisors of the Earl J. and Leona K. Tranin Special Fund meet two to three times per year to review grant applications. Priority areas include cultural arts, community relations, and education predominantly, but not exclusively, within the Jewish community. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

  • White Theatre Grantor Fund

    The purpose of the White Theatre Grantor Fund is to help defray the cost of technical and rental fees incurred by Jewish users of the Lewis and Shirley White Theatre at the Jewish Community Campus. Any Jewish non-profit agency or synagogue may apply. Grant applications are due July 31.
